Domestic and General scam alert

Alert message sent 01/12/2020 15:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire

An elderly resident of the Arnold area has been a long-term policy holder with Domestic & General Insurance. This company funds repairs to domestic appliances - in the resident's case a washing machine.

During the last couple of weeks the resident has received several phone calls purporting to be from Domestic & General asking for money. The resident has checked with Domestic & General who say that the callers are nothing to do with them. It is not clear how the callers have come by contact details for the resident.

There is no suggestion that Domestic & General are at fault in any way - I'm sure that scammers would pretend to represent other firms readily. In this case no harm has befallen the resident.
