Overnight vehicle crime - Rushcliffe area

Alert message sent 11/12/2020 14:47:00

Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

Please be aware that the West Bridgford area has been subject to high end keyless Mercedes vehicles being stolen overnight from driveways, with three vehicles stolen in the last two months.

It is believed that offenders use a signal boosting device to trick the vehicle into thinking the key is within the car when it is not. Please take extra measures to protect your keys, such as purchasing a faraday sleeve, ensuring that keys are at least five metres from any doors or windows, and consider a stop-lock on the steering wheel.

This kind of offending is not exclusive to Mercedes. West Bridgford Police continue to make enquiries into this offending pattern.

Please continue to report any suspicious activity via 101 or 999 in the usual way.
Thank you,
