Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

Welcome to my latest blog for January 2021.

It’s certainly not the start to 2021 we all hoped for but we still find ourselves yet again in lockdown during these challenging times. That being said, it has been a busy month in the area with some significant arrests and positive policing activity.

During January, the three agreed policing priorities were set. These are;
1) Serious Violent Crime
2) Acquisitive Crime
3) Drugs and ASB

We have been working hard throughout January to tackle these issues. Your Operation Reacher team is now fully established within the area and are quickly learning what matters most to the community. They are working alongside your Neighbourhood policing officers to engage with the community wherever they can and enforce upon those who harm our community the most.

A massive team effort in January saw the arrest and charge of Gareth Wilson following a series of shop burglaries in Radford and Hyson Green. He was found hiding under a bed and swiftly arrested and charged with burglary where he entered a takeaway and stole a charity box and other items from within. He was sentenced to eight months imprisonment.

Designated patrols remain in place in hot spot burglary areas to deter burglaries from taking place and offer crime prevention advice so please say hello if you see the officers.

We have conducted a number of successful drugs warrants on the area. Significant arrests were made across the month when drugs have been recovered from a number of properties in the area. If you have any concerns about a property near you then please report them to 101.

Throughout lockdown we saw an increase in anti-social behaviour due to the amount of people at home and Covid breaches being reported. We continue to have patrols in place to take this and there are long term operations set up for the hot spot areas. You may have seen an increased presence around Hyson Green recently due to an ongoing problem of street drinking and aggressive begging. The team are there to support any vulnerable people but also to make the area safer for those who wish to use it responsibly.

As always, I want to know what matters most to you so please get in touch with any reports or concerns in your area.
