Residents meeting for people living in the vicinity of Lovers Lane and Chatham Court in Newark

Wednesday 24 February, 9.30am until 11am – online event

Nottinghamshire County Councils Community Friendly Notts team (working with Newark and Sherwood District Council, Nottinghamshire Police and the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner) are working on a project aimed at reducing crime in the abovementioned areas. An essential part of this project, known as Safer Streets, involves helping residents to be heard. What are the things that are important to you? What would improve your area? To this end we are organizing an online residents meeting which we hope will be the first of many.

The purpose of the meeting is to:

• Meet your neighbours
• Discuss the concerns you have about the area
• Provide an update of the new initiatives happening in your area, such as the Safer Streets Project, the
new flower planting project and the new community gardening project being set up, that you might
wish to get involved with
• Learn more about the community and to consider taking the first steps to establish a Residents group
• Give examples of the types of activities that groups get involved with

We believe that these meetings are important because they help to create a forum for residents to foster a sense of community in the area; to communicate more effectively with your housing officers; and to encourage residents to work together to keep your neighbourhood an attractive and safe place to live.

Once you have registered to attend you will receive an email with joining instructions.
